  We used to come here all the time. It's probably been two years since the last time, so the name change, and the fact that at noon on a Saturday the place was completely empty, made me sit in my car for a minute, deciding whether or not it was worth the risk. Walking in, it's the same dated decor that's always been here, which was comforting! The menu looks the same, only the front cover has changed. Also comforting!

  I decided to get something totally different, because adventure! I tried the Enchilada De La Casa, while my husband got the Enchilada Suzias. I was ambivalent about mine. It was..ok. My husband loved it. He wasn't super into his, but I really loved the green enchilada sauce, so we switched and we were both much happier about it.

  I LOVE this place! It used to be called Puerto Vallarta, but went through a recent name change to distinguish between the two brothers' restaurants. It is now named Puerto Escondido.  
  
  The food, fortunately, is exactly the same as it always has been! They have arguably the best salsa that I've ever had and their chips are always fresh and delicious. I always order a cheese enchilada and shredded beef taco. I have never been disappointed in the quality or portion and the service is always also wonderful.
  
  Perhaps I am nostalgic, but I do not find the decor to be dingy or dated. It's comfortable and the high-backed booths provide a bit of privacy in a restaurant that could otherwise be very loud and public.

  I'm really not sure why I ever get anything other than the Molcajete, which is basically a soup composed of their salsa with meat and a skin of cheese melted over top, because just about everything else is unseasoned and has no flavor.
  
  The salsa is pretty good, and the chips are thin and crispy, it's honestly the best place to get a basket of chips and mortar of salsa in town. The beans are okay, but they're really nothing special.
  
  The last time I went I got the chile verde, they served it on a plate and it didn't have any flavor whatsoever. I had to get almost an entire lime squeezed onto my plate and add a ton of salt before it was up to any sort of palatable standard. My husband got a burrito, it also was very bland.
  
  On the flipside, this place has never made me sick, and it's great if you just want to get a plate of nachos or some chips with salsa.

  My wife and I have been coming here for years. Recently there was a name change and it now is Now called Puerto Escondido. The food is no longer the same, sadly. Everything used to be pretty good, the rice was the best in the valley. It is now tasteless. Same with the beans. Obviously with the name change came came changes in management and thus the food. Sad.

  I love the Salsa, but I don't care for much else. Some items are too expensive for the quality.
